Andres Godoy was born in San Antonio, Chile. His music incorporates acoustic, classic, ethnic, popular and rock influences. During an accident at the age of 14 Andres Godoy lost his entire right arm in an accident. He now plays his acoustic guitar totally with his left hand, with tapping, pull off, hammer on, strumming and percussive techniques.
Andres Godoy just released his debut CD “La Risa O El Send ” with a wonderful added DVD with all guitar instrumentals. The CD also includes some popular pieces while Andres sings and plays guitar simultaneously. The result is an amazing varied CD which covers a wide range of styles. The guitar instrumentals convey wonderful composed pieces which are as well intimate as extrovert in a catching ambiance and top-notch techniques. “Rosa Chilota” is a stirring and captivating instrumental which really absorbs a listener, just as “Gaviotas”, “Corrientes”. “Trenes des Paseo” and the groovy “Rancherita”.
The tapping techniques Andres uses have fantastic melody and bass lines, which maybe an inspiration for other tapping acoustic guitarists. Andres plays 2 Benito guitars which are built by a Chilean luthier, which have a superb sound with warm and deep basses. Andres plays as well in standard as open tunings. The added DVD shows the spectacular success of Andres Godoy, which transmits us the astonishing chemistry with his audience and how he is just one with his guitar presenting us as well outstanding guitar skills as well the skills of a brilliant composer and entertainer. Enjoy!
