A farmer by trade and musician at heart, Singer/Song writer Benjamin Smith has been performing his original bled of music across North America for nearly a decade now. Drawing on a love of Bluegrass, Folk, Funk and Blues Benjamin sings songs with soul, and tells stories with heart.
In 2007 during life on the west coast of Canada Benjamin recorded his first album, 'Silhouettes of the Lions', with Montreal born vocalist, Jill Satin. The album features 14 original songs written from the heart with harmonies drawn from the heavens. Now after several successful shows in cities across Canada Benjamin has planted himself back in his maritime home to share his story of song. Lately he has been front-manning "Sad Goat Sunshine", a moving cast of musicians playing original acoustic music in Cafes, Clubs, and Kitchens across Canada.
Onstage you can find Benjamin playing any number of stringed instruments from his 12-string seagull guitar to his stand up bass. Upcoming Shows include summertime dates in all three Maritime Provinces and select shows in Montreal and Vancouver. Benjamin also hosts 'Friday night open mic' at the Chatterbox café in the heart of Pugwash, Nova Scotia where musicians and storytellers come together to share their gifts.
Currently Benjamin is working on his second album in his home studio in Pugwash. Check out his myspace pages to find upcoming shows in your neighborhood or hear a sample of his sound.
