SoulRide is attributed to a soulful, natural flow of musical compliments. Lead vocalist and guitarist Aaron MacDonald discovered this ride when collaborating with his soon-to-be band. Members of the band were brought together as musical styles and writing skills began their own perfect compliment. Each member hosted years of musical experience both on and off stage, which evolved a stylish blend of original rock, funk, soul, and R&B music.

Aaron MacDonald, a descendent of musical genius from his home region of Cape Breton has been playing the guitar for 14 years. He’s been performing on the Halifax music scene for a few years and is also a founding member of local Southern Rock outfit ‘Maddison Avenue’. Band mate, Luke Arsenault, son of local Jazz legend Shan Arsenault, at age 22 comes by his talent honestly. His skills are far beyond his years in both his technique and song writing abilities. Drummer, Mark Reid has been performing on stage since the age of 15 with rockin’ acts like ‘the Katey Day Band’ and more recently with ‘Maddison Avenue.’ He brings years of band experience and tasteful execution to this groovy rhythm section. Their final compliment, on bass guitar, front man of local funk machine, ‘the Mellotones’, and multi-instrumentalist Jeff Mosher needs little introduction. Mosher is highly sought after by many bands in Halifax and his vocals have been referred by legendary Canadian artists as some of the best in Atlantic Canada. When he’s performing, it’s as if soul secretes from every pore of this musical mastermind.

In fall 2008, the band was invited to perform at the Marquee Club in Halifax and made a splash on the city’s music scene. SoulRide opened for world-renowned surfer Tom Curren in a benefit concert for the local surf community. Following the performance, the band received an invitation to perform at local favourite music venue, the Seahorse Tavern by manager, Ian McRuer, of Jimmy Swift Band and Magnus Haze. With the completion of their first single, recorded at Sonic Temple with producer and musician, Lil Thomas, SoulRide is prepared and hungry to take the world by storm…or at the very least the east coast music scene.
