I wonder if there will be such a need for a green team this year. I reckon that will be just as good and complete if you ask me about that.  It is one of those things that need to be coordinated really early on just so everything will be set right from the get go. I wonder how things would hold up when you get them by just like that. Anyone have any idea for this?

One thing I'd like to suggest is that the multiple garbage/recycle barrels are labeled with words right on the barrel, not colour.

Last year the barrels were colour coded and there was a peice of laminated paper with the labels stuck to one of the barrels…. Problem is that paper fell off and very quickly all the barrels seemed to become general garbage.

Something just like spraypainting the barrels with garbage/paper/bottles whatever would last the whole weekend.

I agree with this idea! It would be really helpful, especially since a lot people are not exactly sober and that factor can make it harder to tell which garbage is which which…unless they were labeled clearly and the lettering was done in colors and fonts that really stand out! Laugh

Exactly. Just have it on the actual cans somehow. Last year, once that single piece of paper fell away, no one knew what was what.

Hey ALL.

From my own personal experience as being a green lead in several festivals is to add a physical sign to the barrels to make them overtly visible. Given the barrels round nature and the infamous tagging rep of spray paint, I don't think spraying the cans is the best solution. When I was green lead for the fest EMERG-N-SEE, we chopped of plywood to and attached painted signs to guide people to the correct barrel, this worked rather well but in the end sorting was still a necessity to ensure proper disposal. Also, as I am in Halifax all summer I wanted to know if there is still opportunity to volununteer for the festy?
