Lineup 2010
Molly Thomason
Antigonish, NS
I was born in Sidcup, Kent, England, but I moved to Nova Scotia with my theatre-folk parents when I was about 18 months old.
My mom says I arrived singing and just haven’t stopped: I know I’ve been making up songs since I can remember and writing them down since I was about eight. I started teaching myself guitar when I was in grade six – my first song was Iris, by the Googoo Dolls – I love that song.
I’m bilingual, and started out in French immersion schools, but am now in grade ten, in the IB program in Antigonish. I released my first CD, “Through the Static” recorded with Tim Feswick last June (2009). That was really exciting as I was the youngest recipient ever to receive the support of the Nova Scotia Dept of Tourism Culture and Heritages Emerging Music program, to make that CD. Thanks again you guys!
My first single Kiss Me went to 1 in the top ten of the East Coast Countdown for three weeks, and my second single, Break My Heart, released September 21st,was Producers Choice September 19th and also went into the top 10. In March 2010 my third single, Textbook Cute, went to 1 and stayed for a couple of weeks.
I’ve been lucky to play original work at venues throughout Nova Scotia including Stanfest, Harmony Bazaar, Riverfest, the Music Room, the Carlton, the Company House and many more. It’s been great in the last year to perform with some of Music Nova Scotia’s finest artists including Dave Carroll, Ian Sherwood, Irish Mythen, Anna Ludlow, Pink Thunder, Christina Martin, Dave Burton, the fabulous Tim Feswick (my producer for Through the Static)and The Trews! Looking forward to the summer of 2010 – Harmony Bazaar, and hopefully getting started on a new CD among other things!
I’m excited to be posting a few new, acoustic versions of songs I hope will be on the NEXT CD, recorded at a house concert at the great Codapop studios in Halifax, NS. Thanks Doug, Tammy and everyone there for your ongoing support!
