Chris Morrison

Halifax, NS

Chris’ love for music is rooted in his childhood. His mother, a music teacher with her Masters in Music, taught Chris from the age of six to read music and play instruments.  With music in his blood he began mastering the guitar, the drums, the trumpet, piano and bass playing in bands all through junior high and high school.  In 1995 Prodigy’s “Music For The Jilted Generation” was released and this album propelled Chris into the electronic music scene.  By 2000 he was playing Drum & Bass and Breaks in Halifax drawing from influences such as Omni Trio, Freaky Flow, Aquasky, and the Freestylers.

Chris founded Subsonic Productions in the summer of 2008 with long time friend and DJ, Devin D.  They launched their promotional company with the release of their first DJ mix as a duo “Sound Advice”, a mix that put him on the map as a force of funky house in Halifax.

As one of the most booked DJs in Atlantic Canada Chris has proven himself to be a strong DJ, musician, and producer. Whether playing DNB, Breaks, House, or Electro he always brings the heat to the party, setting the dance-floor on fire, and ensuring the girls dance till they drop. As a DJ for BigCityNights Chris holds residencies at Mosaic, Victor’s, and is regularly involved in a variety of events around Atlantic Canada, such as the Sunseekers Festival.

Though 2009 was a break out year for him, 2010 looks to be even bigger, with more bookings throughout Canada, several original releases and remixes planned, and a lot of other exciting things in the pipe.
