Dezza a.k.a. Derek Silvester, was born Sept. 30, 1984, In Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was always fascinated with music; this led him into the world of the DJ. At 14 years old, he got his first turntable, and also learned how to create music via Fruity Loops. While most of his productions consisted of hip hop, his love for Electronic music was still strong and present in his work.
After his tune „Celebrate‟ caught the ear of Pete Tong it was entered in the popular Bedroom Bedlam contest and went on to win 1st prize, along with a release on Tong‟s Label.
Tiesto has also been supporting Dezza‟s popular bootleg “Believe”. Evidence of this is found throughout youtube and the buzz is growing. Tiesto also supported another one of Dezza‟s tunes “When I Get That Feeling” in his Club Life radio show episode 122. Dezza‟s has recently been featured on Tiesto‟s radio show as well as a guest DJ. Support from Paul Van Dyk is displayed in his radio show Vonyc Sessions #145 and #202. Also, PVD selected Dezza as one of his TOP 10 myspace featured artists.
Dezza recently had a tune selected to be a part of an annual compilation titled “Canada‟s Finest”. It is compiled and released by the Juno award winning Canadian label – Hi-Bias Records.
Dezza has also been featured in Future Music Magazine issue 223 with an exceptional review of his tune “Take You Home”.
Given the outstanding reception Dezz has received with his music, he decided to launch his own record label – Dezire Records. The label features his work, along with up and coming artists in the progressive scene.
Dezza is now a top 40 charting progressive house artist on Beatport.com thanks to his remix of Jozhy K‟s – Never Be The Same and original tracks “Day Away” and “Take You Home”. With many more strong releases scheduled and massive support, Dezza is definitely a name to watch.
