Grandtheft
Toronto, ON
Grandtheft is a Producer/DJ based in Toronto, Canada. Establishing an eclectic, custom club sound by playing largely his own originals and remixes, Grandtheft has slayed clubs worldwide and is respected as one of the best live DJs Canada has to offer. The music he produces is varied beyond categorisation, except to say that it seems to move people. Grandtheft’s productions have garnered heavy support from the likes of Diplo, Calvin Harris, A-Trak, Flosstradamus, Skream, Zeds Dead and BBC debuts from Annie Mac and Mista Jam.
On tour 150+ dates in 2014, Grandtheft kicks off 2015 with his 2nd year as a resident at Surrender in Las Vegas, a sold out Australian tour and dates across North America. He has released original records on Mad Decent, Spinnin, T&A, Top Billin and Plant as well as regular unofficial releases of original tunes and a long track record of official remixes and bootlegs.
In 2012, Grandtheft collaborated with Diplo to remix Calvin Harris and Florence Welch’s hit “Sweet Nothing”. Released on Ultra, the remix became a worldwide smash in and of itself, garnering over 8 Million plays on Soundcloud and climbing to the Top 10 on the iTunes Dance Charts. His Keys N Krates ‘Treat Me Right’ remix for Dim Mak hit #1 Electronic on Beatport in 2013 and many of his tunes have attained the #1 spot on Hype Machine’s blog charts.
The success of several other club hits like his ‘Tuna Melt’ remix for A-Trak/Tommy Trash (Fools Gold) and a remix of Machel Montano’s soca anthem ‘The Fog’ with Major Lazer set the stage for Grandtheft to become the go-to producer for reworking 2014’s biggest Dance and Top 40 tracks, including Katy Perry’s “This Is How We Do”, Dillon Francis’s “When We Were Young” and Alesso’s “Heroes”. Expect more to come as well an original EP in the first half of 2015.
