Mindwaves

Mindwaves is an alternative rock band from Charlottetown, PEI consisting of Jamie Crawford, James Wonnacott, Simon Joseph and Josh MacNeil. Mindwaves has become known for performing a dynamic, high energy set that draws the listener in with mystifying tones and captures them with tight grooves and catchy vocal lines. Mindwaves was born in a friend’s basement in 2011 and remained relatively low key before 2014 due to changes in the band’s lineup and hiatuses. With the formation of the band’s current lineup, Mindwaves has found their niche and has become increasingly involved in the east coast music scene.
Mindwaves won the 2015 Q93 Battle of the Bands, receiving a prize including 20 hours of studio recording and mixing with David Rashed (of Haywire) at The Studio In The Guild in Charlottetown. Working with Rashed was an incredible experience for the band, the result of which was a four-track self-titled EP, mastered by Lacquer Channel in Toronto. Mindwaves EP was released digitally by donation on March 30th, 2016 on the band’s website. The single, Electric Skyway, has been selected to enter rotation on Q93FM in Charlottetown, PE and Q104FM in Halifax, NS.
On September 5th, 2014, Horizons EP was released at Baba’s Lounge in Charlottetown and was received warmly by friends and fans. Baba’s Lounge decided to add a framed poster for the event on their wall. Horizons brings the listener on a trip through dark and bright periods and remains within the sphere of experimental rock.
Currently, the band is working on an LP that will be released in the Winter of 2016.
