Lineup 2017
Joyful Noise
Fredericton, NB
Joyful Noise is a Canadian funk-fusion band formed in 2015, consisting of Corey McNeill on guitar, Jason Berube (Chris Kirby, Keith Hallet, Andy Brown) on drums, and Camilo Villamizar (Dub Antenna) on bass. The band draws influence from a wide array of contemporary and foundation artists in the jazz, funk, and blues traditions; including Herbie Hancock, John Scofield, Vulfpeck, Oz Noy, Jimmy Herring, Tedeschi-Trucks Band, and Dixie Dregs. Their live shows also frequently incorporate style elements from modern rock and electronica, and feature nods to pop culture icons.
Following a year of work, the band started performing in their home town of Fredericton, New Brunswick, in the fall of 2016, playing club shows to capacity during the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival and immediately sparking a buzz in local music circles. They closed the year appearing on the bills for both the Christmas and NYE events put together by the notorious Atlantic Canada arts community Feels Good, and returned in early 2017 to make their first mark in Halifax at the Folly Fest Winter Party.
In the upcoming years, Joyful Noise is looking to position themselves as one of Atlantic Canada’s premier instrumental bands, make an impact on the east coast camping festival scene, strengthen their presence at Harvest Jazz & Blues, expand their horizon to the Halifax and Montreal Jazz festivals, and complete their first recorded work.
