Gypsophilia

Halifax, NS

Halifax-based Gypsophilia is a group of seven young performers whose music straddles the jazz and indie worlds. The band s typical lineup of three guitars, violin, double bass, trumpet and piano is bolstered on the album with synthesizer, impromptu gang vocals, and percussion.

“Remarkable intuition as an ensemble, ably dialoguing as if in a narrative… ” – Exclaim!

“Seamlessly blending Balkan-folk music, hip-swaying swing, with a dynamic rock edge. A jazz-ensemble mastery, Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington, colliding with modern cats like Beirut and Gogol Bordello. A fusion of musical elements to create a sound fresh and intoxicating.” – Lonely Vagabond
