The Shorty Tubbs are pie-eyed pioneers of Mumblecore, a movement usually associated with micro-budget independent modern cinema, where old timey narratives and lurid confessions are assembled from the wreckage of the last century, packed tight into soaring harmonies, and driven to deep fried distraction. Each song is a low-to-no-fi crunchy pop nugget existing in its own universe but sharing a greasy euphoria and propensity for hip-hop-on-Gershwin witticisms.
