Three Sheet

Halifax, NS

. . . 3 microphones and 2 guitars (bass, electric), all beatbox percussion, funky rhythms and potent lyrics. Born through kitchen jams with wooden spoons for drumsticks, beat-boxing, freestyling and improvised guitar playing, it didn’t take Three Sheet long before they started making noise around the Maritimes. From a collection of five musicians comes 100% live “hip hop” that was literally and lyrically born to make you move. With roots in Funk, Lyricism, Lounge and Beatbox, Three Sheet offer a unique blend of “neo-soul, funk, and organic live hip hop”. Its a fresh take on traditional hip hop, and different from the norm now. Laid out in a highly energized performance it’ll change the room’s mood in a moments time and make it just about impossible to sit still!

On stage and in verse Expedyte delivers inspirational lyrics and an addictive flow while EMC displays incredible beat-boxing skills being the soul provider of percussion. On lead guitar Ryan O’Quinn plays a limitless variety of juicy rhythms and ear-defying riffs, while Kevin Tilley’s highly original funk-filled bass lines synch to complete the sound. The addition of the beautiful Vanessa Furlong’s soulful vocal styling’s are enough to leave any man, woman or child in awe and truly inspired, yet again proving the dynamic range of talent that comes out of Atlantic Canada.

In 2009 Three Sheet hosted a weekly event at Halifax’s Elephant & Castle that ran for forty-one weeks and was hugely successful. Performing to diverse crowds each week this was a prime environment for exposure and the momentum it created has followed the band throughout the Maritimes as they branch out in support of their debut album, ‘In Circulation’. Released late in 2009 it could potentially be the first ALL and only beatbox percussive album, with no drums, no samples, and all live instrumentation. Its an impressive first release and recieved a 2010 East Coast Music Award nomination for Hip Hop Recording of the Year!
