The Yazmanian Devil aka Yaz aka the Man Behind the DJ aka Yazan Shaker discovered his love for House music in 1994 listening to DJs from the likes of Pete Tong, Armand Van Helden, Derrick Carter, Dave Morales, and Roger Sanchez to name a few.
Over the years, Yaz surrounded himself with Halifax’s best DJs, developing and honing his ear for quality house music. Yaz would often influence and infuse the latest in his eclectic house music selections into DJ’s top 40 style playlists and is unforgiving in his desire to give Halifax a taste of the cosmopolitan club experience.
In 2009, Yaz introduced himself to the DJ world as the Yazmanian Devil. It all began one evening at Mosaic Lounge where he entered and won a monthly Industry Night competition where he became a resident DJ every Thursday and every other Tuesday.
The Yazmanian Devil has played with DJs NoLuv, Cam Harding, Trixxx, Steve Nurse, Byrd and D-Yazz. His musical selection includes house and progressive house. Playing tracks from both the underground to the recognizable house, and progressive house hits as well.
