Jason Pelletier

Ottawa, Ontario

DJ / producer / event organizer, Jason Pelletier aka ‘Jason Skilz’ has played the East Coast many times and major cities across Canada, the US, UK, Germany and Asia. Just back from DJing at Miami’s Winter Music Conference (WMC) this year, Jason’s creative production company, Spins & Needles has launched a record label with releases coming out this summer. This is in addition to recent tracks and collaborations on US Jacking House labels – Caliber Sounds and Coyote Cuts.

Known for his Funky / Jacking and Deep House style through the Stay House! mix series and for throwing down a memorable performance at Evolve Festival last year, Jason is back again for more this summer! Originally from the East Coast, Jason started DJing in the early 90s creating a hip hop group in high school and pioneering DJ gigs at early raves in Halifax, Fredericton and Moncton. Living in Montreal since the mid-90s and Ottawa since 2001, Jason refined his DJing style and began a new venture as co-creator and music director of Spins & Needles production company with partner Melanie Yugo. Originally an event focused company mixing art projects with DJs spinning funky house music, Spins & Needles has expanded to include design products, installations / artistic interventions, workshops, and a record label.

With over two decades of experience behind the decks, Jason has played alongside many underground Funky / Jacking House and Tech House DJs in the past including: Corduroy Mavericks, Loopity Goofs, Phil Weeks (Robsoul), Justin Long (.Dotbleep), Dave Allison (Kinjo), Onionz (Siesta / Maya), Ed Marco (Fiasco), Wayne Brett (Flosshatt), Metro Housing Authority, Pheek (M_nus / Archipel), Derek Plaslaiko (Spectral / Ghostly International), Tim Hecker (Force Inc. / Alien8), Frivilous (~Scape), Leon Louder (Odds and Ends / Guesthouse), Sean Kosa (Turbo), Noah Pred (Thoughtless), Jamie Kidd (Metalogic / Thoughtless), Maus, Jamon (CHFM), Ernesto Ferreyra (Cadenza) and others…
